A LITTLE ABOUT ME

My Story

We all have a story and I have found that it can help to get to know your therapist a a little before making the decision to work with them. So I wanted to offer a little about my own life experience to you.

I’m originally from South Africa and I grew up at the most incredible time, witnessing huge change and the true power of community as Nelson Mandela took the reins to heal our country and inspire the world.

In 1998 I moved to the UK with my family to start a new life. This wasn’t an easy move as I had to leave everything that I knew and move to a place that I had never been before! It was a challenge to adjust to a new life.

I quickly started to find my feet and tried my hand at many different roles over the years. Working as a Holistic Therapist, Playworker, Finance Officer, Human Resources Assistant, Health and Safety Officer, Reflexologist, Recruitment Consultant, Trainer, Marketing Manager and now Counsellor and Coach.

Although I have been able to take strengths and grow as a person in every role I have taken on throughout my working life, I never felt fully satisfied. I always felt boxed in. I would feel unable to be my most creative self and fulfill my potential to help others. This meant I would often feel disconnected from the work and felt as though there was a bigger purpose for me.

I’m mom to my Autistic son who has been my biggest teacher and is one of the most authentic and strong people I know. He has changed my life and been a huge part of my story! In later years I connected with my own neurodivergence as I came to understand that I too had an ADHD brain. So I embrace the differences and harness the creativity that may neurodivergent people have within them. I am passionate about supporting neurodivergent women who often struggle with burnout, anxiety and low self-esteem amongst other challenges.

In 2012 my sons mental health crashed and as a result of supporting him, mine crashed as well. I was home educating my son while trying to balance being a working mom and living in a toxic relationship. Our lives became entangled in pain, anxiety, burn out, chaos and stress. I experienced a time in my life that I would label as absolute exhaustion where I struggled to even get out of bed. I knew that this was the time for me to follow my heart, find my life purpose and to heal from our past trauma together.

I decided to empower myself so I could be a good role model for my son. I left my toxic relationship, left my job and moved to Cheshire so that I could retrain and start on a new path.

I re-trained as an Integrative Counsellor, and gained experience working within the NHS, Rape Crisis and supporting women, parents and carers through my signature empowerment programs and 1:1 work. During my time as a counsellor, I started to recognise the Power of Community and Creativity in healing from trauma and pain.

This led me to hit the create button and start an award winning Facebook community which I still lead today. I fell deeply in love with community work and support charities, digital communities and counsellors to bring more creative therapeutic work into their practices.

I am on a mission – to “Empower Heart Led Women to Embrace Life” – and I do this through offering an approach that I call MBFI – incorporating Mind, Body, Feelings & Intuition within the healing work. A holistic approach to healing.

To support me to be able to offer this, I trained further in Coaching, NLP, Hypnotherapy, Somatic Trauma Therapy and Nutritional Therapies.

I can now offer a unique integrative approach to Therapeutic Coaching and I have a specialist interest in stress, burn out, trauma and compassion fatigue recovery. I host therapeutic retreats, creative workshops and 1:1 sessions digitally and in person and I would love to have the opportunity to support you too!

How I’ve Helped My Clients

“We regularly commission Tanja to deliver her signature six-week Empowerment Program for parents and adults on the autism spectrum.

Tanja combines coaching tools, NLP, creativity and Mindfulness, and her empowering approach has been incredible and life-changing for many of the parents who attended.

Tanja and her team are superb coaches and they understand the needs of this group who have extraordinary amounts of stress and trauma in their everyday lives supporting a child or adult with autism.

Consequently, many parents have extremely low self-esteem as a result. This coaching has turned lives around!

I personally now feel capable of dealing with my challenging children (aged 25 and 14) emotionally.

Before this coaching, I was completely stressed and burnt out. I now use the techniques Tanja has taught me and whenever I am struggling, I will practice the tools and remind myself of this incredible learning that I have been blessed to take part in.

I cannot recommend Tanja highly enough.
